How large will the Battery Bank need to be for the power needed?
A person needs to calculate the energy needed to produce the power needed over the desired time frame.
Follow the steps below to size a battery bank specific to your needs:
Step 1: Determine Your Load Watts (Amps x Volts)
Watts (W) = Volts (V) x Amps (A)
Step 3: Determine Theoretical Battery Capacity in Amp-Hour (Ah)
Divide your load run-time by the battery voltage to get the theoretical battery capacity (Ah).
Theoretical Battery Capacity (Ah) = Load Run-Time (Wh)/Battery Rated Voltage (V)
Step 2: Estimate Load Run-Time in Watt-Hours (Wh)
————
Step 4: Oversize Battery Capacity to account for DOD & weather variation.
*-Please consult with a professional before connecting power to your electric system or power station.
How will your battery bank be charged?
48volt systems are quickly becoming the standard, although many people opt for 24 volt and 12 volt systems. Whichever voltage you select, the inverter must be the same voltage and the power input from the battery bank to the inverter must be the same voltage.
For example: A 48volt ARCO-Zeus system charges at 7000-8000 watts, therefore in 2 hours of driving (7000 X 2 = 14,000 watts, conservatively speaking). One can expect to fully charge a 4-48v 100aH Renogy Solid State Battery Bank at a 30% Depth of Discharge (DOD) .

Why Certified Battery Technology Matters for True Energy Independence
Thanks to the latest advancements in battery technology, the path to energy independence is becoming easier to navigate with the passage of time & testing. Purchasing the cheapest battery products and power stations from large e=commerce platforms to save a few dollars short-term can be risky (given the lack of certifications & testing on cheaper products). While it is true that LiFePO4 battery technology is much safer than popular EV Li-ion technology, you should still look for UL-certified products that meet ISO standards. Best wishes & Off-Grid cheers!:)
